Dear Bolinas-Stinson Families,
What an amazing first two weeks back at school! It is so good to see all the students and how much they grew over the summer. Our first all-school assembly was a lot of fun, thanks to an interactive activity that ML and Karen arranged for the kids. We will be having these assemblies each month and hope to have more student presentations in the future. All parents are welcome to attend and they are listed on our school calendar.
A huge thank you to our fantastic staff for all their hard work getting our school and programs running smoothly and off to a great start! Our office staff have been hard at work updating student emergency cards, so please be sure to turn in your child’s "beginning of the year" school forms as soon as possible. This information is extremely important in case of an emergency.
HELP KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE ~ PLEASE STOP FOR OUR SCHOOL BUSES
Please help us get the message out to our neighbors and friends! Unfortunately we have had many incidents of drivers passing our stopped buses when our kids are loading and unloading. This is extremely dangerous and against the law.
All vehicles must stop when school buses stop and display their flashing red lights and extend their stop signs.

When approaching a stopped school bus or driving by a bus stop after the bus has left, please slow down and keep an eye out for students who may be walking nearby.

PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN GENTLE START SCHEDULE CONTINUES UNTIL LABOR DAY
Pre-K and Kindergarten will continue the Gentle Start early dismissal time for one more week. We have found the Gentle Start Schedule a nice way to help some of our youngest students make a successful transition and adjust to the longer days. This schedule will end after Labor day and we will return to the normal dismissal times below.
Pre-K Gentle Start Schedule Continues through September 2nd, 2022
Arrival for 3 & 4 year olds: 9:00 AM
Regular Dismissal for 3 year olds: 12:30 PM
Gentle Start Early Dismissal for 4 year olds: 1:30 (from Wednesday, August 17 - Friday, September 2, 2022)

Early Gentle Start Dismissal for Kindergarteners: at 1:50 (from Wednesday, August 17 - Friday, September 2, 2022)

Monday and Friday Dismissal from Stinson Campus: 2:50 PM
Tuesday and Thursday Dismissal from Bolinas Campus: 3:05 PM

Grades 2-8, Bolinas Campus ~ Keep an eye out for the new morning bus schedule
Beginning Tuesday, September 6th after Labor Day, the bus will be dropping off students at the Bolinas Campus at 8:20 AM, five minutes before the morning bell which rings at 8:25 AM. The new bus schedule will be posted late next week. Pick-up times at bus stops will be five minutes earlier.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL NEEDS PARENT REPRESENTATIVES
Looking for a way to be more involved in your child’s school?… Join the Bolinas Stinson School Site Council!
The School Site Council consists of equal parts staff (certificated and classified staff, and the school principal) and parents. This makeup is designed to represent the diversity of stakeholders in our school community, while promoting equity of voice to address important school programs and topics.
The overarching goal of the BSUSD School Site Council is to promote the success and wellness of all students. Some past projects of the School Site Council have been strengthening social-emotional learning, creating Young Stewards of the Land, organizing and creating community events such as the Harvest Fair and restarting the Room Parent program.
This year, the School Site Council will be focused on promoting the health, wellness, and safety of students, staff, and families in our school community; continuing to support environmental education and build our student's connection to the land/water around us.
Some of the general responsibilities include: Reviewing the School Safety Plan, and the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan), supporting the work of the School Health, Wellness and Safety Committee, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and other groups/programs relating to student success and school climate.
Meetings will be monthly on Thursdays from 3:30-4:45 in the Bolinas Campus Library. If you are interested, we welcome you to sit in on our next meeting, Thursday, September 1, 2022.
NO SCHOOL ~ STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY ~ FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2022
Certificated staff met today with Biret Adden of the Point Reyes National Seashore Association to work on deepening our environmental education program for our students. The focus was on place-based learning and using our unique local environment to teach integrated Science, Math, English Language Arts, and Art lessons/units.
A big thank you to Courtney Barend, Lily Roseman, and Bridget Bartholome for providing wonderful docent services to our teachers out at Duxbury Reef as well as Don Jolley for sharing his bounty of experience with us. It was a special day full of amazing work focused on developing engaging activities, instilling curiosity, and developing stewardship of the land/ocean with our kids. Our students will directly benefit from this work with more local field trips, new, hands-on learning and nature journaling activities for all grade levels.

We have been hard at work updating our website and our district's mobile app! You can download the newest version of our BSUSD App, available on both android and iPhone platforms.
