Times Square Billboard

Dear Bolinas Stinson School Families,

Big News for our very own 6th Grade teacher and student duo, Mary Lynn (ML) Bryan and Indigo Carducci, who recently had their photo displayed on the Times Square billboard for Tribute Day, a day to create awareness of childhood cancer and honor the brave and courageous kids fighting this disease.

ML has pledged to ride 250 miles in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer during the month of September! She is off to a great start (151 miles and counting). Even though the challenge has already started, we can still support her through the month of September! This Wednesday, September 15th, all donations will be matched, so it will double the amount that is donated!

ML shared why she is participating in this important event,

The purpose of the event is to raise money to research and fight kids’ cancer. As you all know, Indigo, has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma which is a type of bone cancer. As a result, Indigo has been going through chemo treatments since last spring. She is doing great and although she has some rough days, she is a total trooper and knows she just has to get through these treatments in order to get better. She is not “the cancer girl” as she puts it, she is a girl that happens to have this-- she will not let it define her.

I wanted to do something to make a difference in some kind of way so I have made a commitment to ride 250 miles on my bike in the month of September.  As of today, I have raised $5,363.60  for this cause through “The Great Cycle Challenge.” All donations will support the Children's Cancer Research Fund, to allow them continue developing lifesaving treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year so I want to do something to help work toward a cure.  Any donation would be great of course! Your support will surely help this cause. ~ ML
