Dear Bolinas-Stinson Families,

I hope you are enjoying the change of seasons and the beauty that surrounds us! Thank you Janis Yerington, our wonderful Art Shop & Painting Specialist, for the monthly themes on our school kiosk. It brightens my day and I look forward to what she has planned for next month.

BSUSD Distance Learning Hub Expands!

I am pleased to announce that we are expanding the BSUSD Distance Learning Hub to both Campuses. On Monday, November 16th, we will be opening another Distance Learning Hub on the Stinson Campus in the Pre-K classroom, for 7 students in grades Kindergarten-2nd. We will continue to serve 14 students in the Bolinas Campus Distance Learning Hub, Grades 3rd-8th for a total of 20 students between the two hubs.

The BSUSD Distance Learning Hub was created for BSUSD families that are unable to fully participate in distance learning due to poor connectivity or other issues. The Learning Hubs are by invitation only, due to state guidelines and in accordance with health/safety precautions. We are observing all health and safety protocols for staff and students each day the Learning Hub is open.

Technology Update

We are excited to roll out our newest online safety partner, Securly, for increased online security and management of student accounts. Our IT specialist, Mark Tong shared the following important information about the online support this new service provides and every family should be aware of:

  • Web filter - Keeps students safe on devices—including Chromebooks, iPads, Macs, and Windows devices. Provides visibility into online activity, download or email reports.

  • Auditor - Provides real-time email, Docs, and Drive scanning, with alerts and notifications for nudity, cyberbullying, suicide, and violence.

  • Classroom Management - Allows teachers to guide and monitor online activities, keep students focused, and communicate directly with the class. Allows teachers to see what students are doing on their Chromebooks and Chrome browsers. Allows teachers to keep students focused on classroom instruction.

  • Parental Controls - (Coming Soon!) Will allow parents to monitor and perform activity tracking and screen time management when school devices go home

CrisisGo ~ Safety iPass to Provide Confidential Daily Health Screening Reports for all staff and students

Our school is contracting with CrisisGo Safety iPass to confidentially and automatically send, monitor, and identify/escalate staff and student daily health screening reports. This service will send a daily email to staff and families to report on their or child’s/children’s health. We are currently using the system with all staff and will begin with families once in-person learning resumes. The system is designed to maintain confidentiality while immediately alerting us if a staff member or family reports any COVID 19 symptoms, exposure, or testing results. This will allow us to better monitor the day-to-day health of students and staff, and act swiftly should it be necessary.
