Tour to Learn

Dear Bolinas-Stinson Community

Tour to Learn ~ Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We could not have asked for a more perfect evening for the Bolinas-Stinson Tour to Learn. It was a special time for families to experience some of the hands-on learning we do everyday, as well as a fantastic opportunity to see all the classrooms, art shops, performing arts in the Quesada, Learning Center, Bi-literacy room, and meet our teachers, paraeducators, and specialists.

Events like this support our North Star Priorities by helping to build a strong sense of community and create a closer tie between home and school. Parents were able to see all the wonderful people who have contributed to the exceptional programs and increased services for our students this year.

Supporting our students is at the heart of all we do. Our middle school Student Wellness Ambassadors shared a little bit about how they are working to make the school a better place for students, with spirit week, assemblies, and improving school facilities. What a great way to showcase how we are all working together to make our school a place where all students are welcomed, valued, and nurtured. Thank you all for making it a wonderful Tour to Learn!

Public Announcement System Malfunction

This afternoon, our new public announcement system malfunctioned and inadvertently broadcast a lockdown drill to classrooms when I tried to announce the assembly. I was unable to override the announcement and immediately went to each classroom to let them know it was a mistake and reassure students and teachers.

The message is part of a prerecorded series of alerts that came with the PA system and was not supposed to be accessible. Even though it was scary and alarming, our staff handled it calmly and professionally and reassured students. I apologize for any stress this may have caused students and staff and have followed up with all staff. I will also be visiting classrooms tomorrow to talk to students and reassure them.

Warmly,

Michelle
