May Day Celebration

Dear Bolinas-Stinson School Families and Community,

May Day Celebration at the Stinson Campus - Music, Dance, Flowers, & Fun!

A huge thank you to our Bolinas-Stinson staff, community members, the Bolinas Children's Center staff and students, parent volunteers, and our music teacher, Anny for providing a beautiful and entertaining May Day celebration. The students, grades Pre-K through 5th, were bedecked with flowers as they presented their showcase songs and dances to an enthusiastic audience of Bolinas-Stinson families and friends.  The event wrapped up with the Maypole finale and a family picnic on the lawn. Such a sweet tradition!

Seventh and Eighth Grade Students Qualify for Marin County Middle School Track & Field Finals

Will deLorimier, Satchel Trivelpiece, Kai Gonzalez, Italo Vaccaro qualified to participate in the Marin County Middle School Track and Field Championship at the recent Terra Linda High School track meet. Will even got an all time high jump of 4 feet 9 inches while qualifying!  Wylie Pepper-Conner, a 6th grader, also did a great job representing our school in the high jump. I am so proud of our students’ efforts!

CAASPP Testing Windows May 6th - May  24th, 2019

This week our students in grades 3-8 will begin the first session of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).  I encourage all students to participate in CAASPP testing. The results of these assessments used in combination with classroom assessments, provide information to help inform their instructional program. The results of the CAASPP tests help deepen our understanding of the unique educational needs of each learner.

Please discuss the test with your child to address any anxiety or concerns they may have. Tell your child that you and their teacher know they will do their best and that you are both there to help them every step of the way. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.

Your child’s score report will be available in August. This report will summarize your student’s performance on the CAASPP assessments. For students in fourth grade and above, the score report will include prior year scores, allowing you to measure growth over time. Review test results with your child and discuss where they might need additional help with their teacher.

Please be aware that parents or guardians may submit to the school, a written request to excuse his or her child from any or all parts of any test provided pursuant to Education Code section 60640 for the school year. Please contact Johanna Scutt if you wish to submit a written request to excuse your child from any portion of the testing.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the upcoming 2019 CAASPP assessments.

Warmly,

Michelle Stephens
